mapalina comienza con la pregunta
¿dónde
nacen los ríos?
Ese año, en octubre, después de diversos diálogos
respecto al ecosistema de Páramo en Colombia, hicimos una visita al
Páramo de Sumapaz con el artista Pablo Quiroga y la zoóloga y científica
Jessica Zapata. Allí caminamos con la niebla y las gotas de agua que se
convierten en riachuelos, buscando experimentar y sentir la
transformación dele stado vaporoso al líquido a través de este complejo
ecosistema de múltiples especies y seres, procesos y temporalidades,
centrándonos en el frailejón. Mapalina proteje el páramo velando
visibilidad.
De esta visita surgió la primera iteración ‘pneuma
mapalina’, que se presentó en el año 2016 en Bogotá, durante la
exposición colectiva durante Sinfonía Trópico curada por Caridad Botella.
Pablo y Elizabeth dialogaron a través del dibujo y la fotografía,
respectivamente, en torno a lo visible e invisible del ecosistema del
Páramo y del proceso en el que se desvelean y revelan los ríos.
mapalina (2015)
mapalina started with the question where are the rivers born? That
year, in October, after several dialogues regarding the Páramo
ecosystem in Colombia, we visited the Páramo de Sumapaz with artist
Pablo Quiroga, anthropologist Carolina Neu and the zoologist Jessica
Zapata. There we walked with the fog and water drops that turned into
streams. We sought to experience and feel the transformation from a
vaporous to a liquid state through this complex ecosystem of multiple
species and beings, processes and temporalities, focusing on the
relation between fog and Espeletias. mapalina protects with the fog the
Páramo ecosystem, veiling visibility. From this visit emerged the first iteration, 'pneuma mapalina,' presented in 2016 in Bogotá as part of Sinfonía Trópico’s group exhibition curated by Caridad Botella.
Here Pablo and Elizabeth established a dialogue through drawings and
photography, respectively, around the visible and invisible of the
Páramo ecosystem and the process in which rivers are unveiled and
revealed.
